Screening of the series “ACTIVA-TE for the Right to Health”
The first screening for the general public of the series “ACTIVA-TE For the Right to Health”, produced by the Alliance for Health network, took place last Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at the CCFM – Franco-Mozambican Cultural Centre.
The event featured a panel composed by the Coordinator of the Alliance for Health and National Director of medicusmundi, Violeta Bila; the Gender Officer and Jurist at the Foundation for Community Development, Graça Júlio; and the Advocacy Officer at Rede HOPEM (Men for Change), Bayano Valy.
Two episodes of the six that make up the series were shown, namely: Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Positive Masculinities. After the screening, a debate followed in which the panellists brought to the table the difficulties faced by victims of gender-based violence, such as the lack of shelters, slow care processes, non-compliance with laws, among others.
It is also important to highlight the debate that took place on the importance of the role of fathers in monitoring their babies during hospital appointments and their active participation in their children's lives, as a way of deconstructing and reconstructing concepts of masculinity that are prevalent and rooted in society.
This initiative will help contribute to changing toxic perspectives and behaviours.
According to some of the participants, this initiative will help contribute to changing toxic perspectives and behaviours, which continue to subjugate women, within a patriarchal dynamic and sexist culture. And it can help to teach new ways of how men and women can enjoy and fully enjoy their rights.
It is worth noting that the official premiere of the series “ACTIVA-TE For the Right to Health” for a restricted audience had already taken place on March 27, 2024, at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Maputo, with the presence of government institutions, diplomatic representations, members of the Alliance for Health and the artistic class involved in the production of the different episodes.
